Registration and Access

To consent to the terms and conditions, individuals must be at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18 you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to use the Services.

You are required to furnish accurate and comprehensive information when registering for an account to access our Services. Sharing your account credentials or granting access to your account to any other individual is strictly prohibited. You are accountable for all actions undertaken under your account. If you register an account or utilize the Services on behalf of another individual or entity, you must possess the necessary authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.

Using Our Services

Permitted Activities: You are granted access to and may utilize our Services in accordance with these Terms. When using our Services, you must adhere to all relevant laws, as well as our policies.

Prohibited Activities: You are prohibited from engaging in any illegal, harmful, or abusive activities while using our Services. For instance, you may not:

• Engage in actions that infringe upon, misappropriate, or violate the rights of others.
• Modify, replicate, lease, sell, or distribute any aspect of our Services.
• Attempt or assist others in reverse engineering, decompiling, or uncovering the source code or underlying components of our Services, including models, algorithms, or systems (unless prohibited by applicable law).
• Extract data or Output automatically or programmatically.
• Falsely represent Output as human-generated.
• Disrupt or interfere with our Services, including bypassing any protective measures or safety protocols.
• Utilize Output to create models that directly compete with those developed by Legal Link.

Software

Our web application software may include downloadable components that update automatically to ensure you have the latest version. Additionally, our software may incorporate open-source components governed by their respective licenses, which we provide access to.

Feedback

We value your input, and by providing feedback, you consent to its unrestricted use by us without any compensation to you.

Content

Your Contributions: You have the option to provide input to our Services ("Input") and receive output from the Services based on this Input ("Output"). Input and Output collectively constitute "Content." You bear responsibility for the Content, ensuring it complies with all relevant laws and these Terms. By providing Input, you affirm that you possess all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions.

Similarity of Content: Due to the inherent characteristics of our Services and artificial intelligence technology, Output may not be entirely unique, and other users may receive similar Output from our Services. Our relinquishment of rights above does not extend to Output received by other users or any Third Party Output.

Our Utilization of Content: We reserve the right to use Content for purposes such as providing, maintaining, developing, and enhancing our Services, adhering to applicable laws, enforcing our terms and policies, and ensuring the safety of our Services.

Accuracy

Artificial intelligence and machine learning represent rapidly advancing fields of study. We are continually enhancing our Services to enhance their accuracy, reliability, safety, and overall usefulness. Considering the probabilistic nature of machine learning, there may be instances where the utilization of our Services produces Output that does not precisely reflect real individuals, locations, or factual circumstances.

By utilizing our Services, you acknowledge and accept the following:

Output may occasionally lack precision. Relying solely on Output from our Services as an absolute source of truth or factual information, or using it as a substitute for professional advice, is not advisable. Users acknowledge that the information provided by our AI services is not to be construed as legal advice. It is your responsibility to assess the accuracy and suitability of Output for your specific use case, which may involve employing human review as necessary, prior to utilizing or disseminating Output from the Services.

You are prohibited from utilizing any Output pertaining to an individual for any purpose that could have legal or material ramifications for that individual, such as making significant decisions concerning their credit, education, employment, housing, insurance, legal matters, medical matters, or other important aspects of their life.

All responses generated by our AI should be verified with provided resources as well as the user's own resources before taking any action based on them. Furthermore, it's important to note that while our platform provides valuable insights, it does not constitute legal advice. For personalized legal guidance, users are encouraged to seek out professional legal advice from qualified professionals.

Our Services may generate Output that is incomplete, inaccurate, or potentially offensive, and it should not be construed as reflecting the views of Legal Link. Any mention of third-party products or services within the Output does not imply endorsement or affiliation with Legal Link.

Pay-as-you-go Pricing

Pricing is subject to change without prior notice. Changes in pricing do not result in credits or debits to previous purchases. The number of tokens per batch may vary. No credits or debits will be applied to existing tokens for previous purchases.

Refund Policy

Customers are eligible for a refund within 48 hours from the time of payment. Beyond this period, no refunds will be issued.

Refunds for unused tokens will be calculated on a pro rata basis, determined by the number of tokens utilized from the batch purchased. The pro rata amount for the refund will be calculated at the date and time the refund is processed on Legal Link’s side, refunding only the tokens that have not been utilized up to that point. For example, if a batch of tokens was purchased for R100.00, equivalent to 200,000 tokens (subject to change without prior notification), and 20,000 tokens were used within a 48-hour window (equivalent to 10% of the tokens purchased), the refund amount would be R90.00. This calculation is based on the formula: R100.00 x (100% - 10%).

If either party, you or Legal Link, cancels your account, no refunds will be provided. Consequently, you forfeit any remaining token balance in your Legal Link account.

Termination and Suspension

You have the option to discontinue your use of our Services at any time. We retain the right to suspend or terminate your access to our Services or delete your account under the following circumstances:

• You have violated these Terms or our privacy Policy.
• We are compelled to do so to adhere to legal requirements.
• Your utilization of our Services poses a risk or potential harm to Legal Link, our users, or any other party.

Additionally, we reserve the right to terminate your account if it remains inactive for over a year. In such instances, we will provide advance notice.

Appeals

If you believe your account has been suspended or terminated mistakenly, you have the option to file an appeal by contacting our Support team.

Limitation of Liability

Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legal Link, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising out of or in connection with the user's use of our services.

Legal Link accepts no liability for incorrect output or output that causes damages to the user. Users utilize the AI-generated output at their own risk.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.

By utilizing our web application software, users acknowledge and agree that any disputes arising from or related to its use shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where our head office is situated at the time, without regard to conflicts of laws principles. Furthermore, users consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction for resolving any such disputes.

Intellectual Property Rights

All content, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, used in providing our services is the property of Legal Link and is protected by South African copyright laws and other intellectual property rights.

Token usage

Users understand and acknowledge that our platform operates on a token-based system, and we do not exercise control over the number of tokens used by individual users. While we strive to provide a seamless and efficient experience, users are responsible for managing their token usage within the parameters of their chosen subscription plan or token allocation.

In accordance with the terms of use outlined by the University of Pretoria's Oliver R Tambo Library for accessing the 'Laws of South Africa,' we acknowledge that the documents provided by the library are sourced from their website. By accessing these documents through our platform, users agree to comply with the terms set forth by the Oliver R Tambo Library.

Modification of Terms

Legal Link reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our web app. Users are responsible for regularly reviewing these Terms and Conditions.
